Program Information

Why Should I Choose GW?

In addition to providing the pre-requisite courses necessary to apply to medical school, GW’s Post-Baccalaureate Pre-Medicine Certificate program offers a professional development course that covers important skills such as writing personal statements, completing the American Medical College Application Service® (AMCAS®) application, and interviewing with medical school admissions representatives.

What Will I Learn?

Students will complete the program with the coursework commonly required of U.S. allopathic and osteopathic medical schools, and they will also be well prepared to take the newly revised MCAT2015 through a course offered on-site by Kaplan. They will strengthen their interview skills with the help of faculty involved in the GW medical school admissions process.

Who Benefits from the Certificate program?

GW's Post-Baccalaureate Pre-Medicine Certificate program benefits those who want to apply to medical school but have not yet taken the general and organic chemistry, biology, and physics courses necessary for admission. Although not a prerequisite of all medical schools, a biochemistry course is also included in the curriculum to prepare students for new content that will be on the MCAT2015. For more information regarding the newly revised MCAT exam, please visit the Association of American Medical College's (AAMC) website.
